Our programmes

Climate-smart solutions for food, income and nutrition

We work across three programme areas, each delivered through a dedicated project: NAFIS for households, GrowWell for smallholder farmers and Nafaqo for school-going children.

The challenge

Four connected problems families face every day

In and around Dadaab, hunger, climate shocks, poverty and child malnutrition feed into one another. That is why we tackle them together.

  • 01

    Food insecurity

Many households cannot count on enough nutritious food to last the whole year.

  • 02

    Climate shocks

Drought, erratic rains and flooding destroy crops and wipe out fragile livelihoods.

  • 03

    Low household income

With few ways to earn, families struggle to afford food, tools and farm inputs.

  • 04

    Malnourished children

Poor diets early in life hold back children's health, growth and learning.

Our solution

Three programme areas, one goal: healthy, resilient families

Each programme area is delivered through a dedicated project, reaching households, smallholder farmers and school children.

Climate-Smart Food Production

Helping refugee and host-community households grow nutritious food at home, using methods that hold up in a hot, drought-prone climate.
